HONOUR. DESIRE. VENGEANCE. Aryavarta – the ancient realm of the noble. For generations, the Firstborn dynasty of scholar-sages, descendants of Vasishta . The Aryavarta Chrinicles Book 1: Govinda is a story about the struggle for power, the need to reign supreme and the eternal fight for honor and love. The book is set in the ancient historical world of Aryavarta, a land of glory and beauty but that is now crumbled and wasted, as a result of a century long battle between the descendants of Vasishta Varuni, the protectors of the Divine Order on Earth and the Angirasa family of Firewrights, weapon-makers to the kings and master inventors.
Yet another battle of supremacy begins with the death of the last Secret Keeper of the Firewrights as the mighty powers clash together in the ultimate test of honor and pride. Govinda Shauri, a cowherd who is crowned Prince due to circumstances unseen is dragged head long cjronicles this battle as the Commander of aryqvarta armies of Dwarka.
It’s rayavarta ultimate fight of Govinda’s life as he uses all his cunning and wit to thwart the attempts of deception, betrayal and treachery to protect the lives of the innocent people of his kingdoms and those of loved and dear ones.
The bonds of friendship are tested, the feelings of love are exploited and the stakes are placed in the ultimate test of time and war. Govinda is a book that promises you a journey to a world filled with romance, political machinations, deception, murder, adventure, loyal ties of friendship and most of all, a experience to remember. The book was published in and is available in paperback. There has to be a law against writing and releasing books in parts – it is sheer torture to be kept waiting for the next one!
The Aryavarta Chronicles is a refreshing retelling of the Mahabharata or rather the part of the Mahabharata that is connected with Krishna. Unlike the stuff dished out by the likes of Ashok Banker, this retelling has its basis in what can best be described as non-mainstream versions of the Mahabharata – stuff that we might have never otherwise read.
Krishna Udayasankar is to be thanked for the obvious work of love here and should be tortured and jailed for keeping the readers waiting for part II ; may his tribe live long and prosper well. Quite obviously I am now a great fan of his. The author should be commended, first off, in even thinking of aryavsrta an epic the stature of “The Mahabharata”.
The epic has been etched in our memories with the excellent TV series and the millions of comic and graphic renditions. I was frankly, not looking for it, to hit the levels of “Jaya” by Devdutt Patnaik a personal favorite in terms of Mahabharat based storiesbut I was expecting something riveting, knowing that it was to be from Lord Krishna’s view. I have read other books too. Finally, some class in writing from an Indian in the recent times. But the book is unput downable. A story like Mahabarata has enough and more room for the narration to lose focus.
The authoress has done a commendable job of dhronicles venturing astray and sticking to the main character Govinda till the end. Govinda in and upon its success has written two other books for the Aryavarta Chronicles series and many other well acclaimed books.

There was a problem filtering reviews right aryavatta. Please try again later. I am writing the review after I think a year of having read the book. So I don’t quite remember the book in detail. But the aspects which I really liked about the book and author: Too often you read books by first time authors which have good arryavarta and story lines bu are let down by weak characterisation.
Not so with The Aryavarta Chronicles. Skillfully written in terms of language used and command over the narrative. Again, often a problem with first time authors is that the language chrronicles immature, inadequate even crude at times.
Krishna comes across as a mature author in this respect. The series is not for those who are not open to having their view of history specifically the Mahabharat challenged as Krishna’s portrayals vary from confirming cgronicles being very divergent from the conventional portrayals of the characters in Mahabharat.
This is appealing for readers like me who would enjoy looking at a story which is probably the most popular mythological story across India from a different perspective rather than the story and characters remaining chroniclez same but just a re-telling being done in a different style.
Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I was indulged in the book right from the beginning. The way the author traversed me through the world of Aryavarta is commendable. The gamble of power and how Govinda Shauri plans meticulously his each and every move is jaw dropping. I am a great fan of Aryabarta. May be this is our very own and a much predated version of it. There were a few areas where I felt the description was too heavy, but that’s just me! May be from the author’s point of view it was necessary.
A big round of applause to the wordsmith in her. Have learnt several new words, words which I have unheard before.
All in all, a fantastic read. May be I can go ahead and say, it’s better than Immortals of Meluha. Good practical book on the Mahabharata especially since today’s generation finds it difficult to believe in the so-called miracles of the main characters.
The book treats all characters as ordinary humans n gives good knowledge on what events n politics hd transpired before the Mahabharata war took place. The book contains all the necessary events The book contains all the necessary events that take places before the Kurukshetra. The characters are beautifully written.
The relationships between each caharacter and the emotions are written splendidly. The way the events hape up is written well, initially you might find it as drag but thisis all the buil up to an exciting book.
Gives a different perspective to what we heard and believed as kids. Will be reading the second one soon. One writer to watch out for.!! Story presentation, character depiction, etc Krishna stands well as author with huge imagination, but several will not like the way several characters were portrayed.
